Shredding Day - Friday, May 4, 2018: The Rehoboth Beach – Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce (RBDBCC) in partnership with Wilmington Savings Fund Society (WSFS) will host a “Shredding Event” 10 AM – 2 PM on Friday, May 4, 2018, with a rain date of Friday, May 11, 2018. The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach community is invited to bring their used paper to the WSFS Bank in Rehoboth Beach (19335 Coastal Highway) for shredding.
April 20, 2012 - The 3rd Annual Shredding Day Event was a fun day! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WSFS, Bethany Blues and the Chamber's Green Force hosted the "Shredding Event". Click here to view pictures.
The April 19, 2011 Shredding Day was a great success! Due to the success, a second shredding day has been scheduled for May 24th! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WSFS, Bethany Blues and the Chamber's Green Force will host a "2nd Shredding Event." Attendees will be able to gain information on green initiatives and reduce their carbon footrpint with FREE shredding fun! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach community is invited to bring their used paper to Bethany Blues in Lewes for shredding. The event will take place rain or shine. There is no charge, but donations for the benefit of the Destination Station profect are welcome. The event will be held at Bethany Blues Restaurant in Lewes, DE from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon.
April 26, 2011. A Green Force Meeting/Luncheon was held at the Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The meeting was the 2nd phase of the DSC launch including local marketing, website debut and event dates.
April 22, 2010. Earth Day Shredding Event a Huge Success! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Michael Loftus of CPC Financial Planning and the Chamber’s Green Force hosted a “Shredding Event” on Earth Day. The inaugural event was held at Bethany Blues Restaurant in Lewes. The turnout was great! Approximately 350 people brought over 13,000 pounds of paper to shred. Data Guard, the company who shredded the paper, filled the truck in 2 hours...a company first! Chamber Green Force Members were set up to greet participants and to pass out literature.
July 2008. Green Force Meeting. During a Chamber Green Force meeting, Senator Carper turned the tables on the Force that day . . . asking the members what they were doing to support alternative energy and what ways they had found to help out good old mother earth. Since that time, the Force has grown to over 100 members who have met to identify their priorities, set goals and next steps.
July 2009. Recycling Day in Dewey Beach. A one day recycle campaign was held on July 1st from 1:00-3:00 PM in Dewey Beach at Crabber’s Cove Parking Lot.
April 2009 & August 2010. Renewable Energy Fair. Chamber Green Force is represented at the Renewable Energy Trade Shows. A booth is manned and information is provided.
Green Force Attention. The Force has drawn the attention of the Air Quality Partnership, which includes the Delaware Energy Office, Dept. of National Resources, additional State agencies, as well as Azure Dynamics, EcoBoost Technology, Bayshore Ford and others. Partnership meetings are being scheduled to “learn more.”
Long term recycling commitment. Meetings continue to be held with Michele and Tom Grogan of First State Disposal to create a commercialrecycling program.

Before “going green” was a national buzzword, Bewitched & BEDazzled implemented environmentally friendly practices, and continues to learn better ways of providing great hospitality while loving the environment. Here are some of the eco-friendly steps taken by our B&B. We hope you will consider implementing any of these green ideas, and share with us your ideas/suggestions to help us become even more of a “green bed and breakfast”, and to help us all become better stewards of this beautiful and fragile planet.
As of January, 2013, We will no longer use the little plastic amenity bottles! Each shower will be equipped with shampoo and conditioner pump bottles, resulting in saving the landfill from approximately 4,000 little bottles each year. Shampoo and conditioner contain all natural ingredients, and of course no parabens; All inn laundry is done in-house, with low water/high centrifuge washers. Drying time is greatly diminished. Laundry is washed and rinsed on cold, with all stains pre-treated with environmentally friendly product; Laundry detergent and cleansers are biodegradable and environmentally friendly; Compact fluorescent or LED bulbs are being transitionally used throughout the B&B. Burned out CFBs are sent to special recycling center that reclaims the mercury so no discarded bulbs placed in landfills; Curbside recycling is standard in Rehoboth, Bewitched & BEDazzled recycles every product possible in our area: Grass and yard waist, corrugated cardboard, aluminum, tin cans, and plastic. Recycling basket is on the deck, separate recycling baskets are provided in every guest room; Purchases are made in bulk to reduce packaging waste; We are transitioning all new toilets to low flow 1.6 gallons; We love organic and local ingredients. Whenever possible, fresh fruit and vegetables are purchased from local organic farmers; Showers and faucets are all low flow; In 2011, we partnered with Clean the World to recycle unused guest soaps, and the bottles we are currently using in order to prevent childhood diseases worldwide; The flowering shrubs and plants were selected to feed hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and bumblebees. It works!; An herb garden & blueberries are planted outside on the deck provides fresh flavors for the breakfast foods; A culture of re-purposing has developed at the B&B. Whenever an item no longer functions for its designed purpose, We creatively look for a different purpose. Renewable Energy Purchases – Delmarva Power reached an agreement on a long-term power purchase contract under which the company would buy up to 200 megawatts of power from an offshore wind farm to be developed by Babcock & Brown’s subsidiary, Bluewater Wind Delaware, LLC. The purchase includes energy, capacity and renewable energy credits. This contract will be added to a portfolio consisting of up to an additional 170 megawatts of existing, land-based, wind power contracts recently signed by Delmarva Power, all of which are subject to state approval. Green Fleet – In order to reduce its carbon footprint, Delmarva Power is investing in a hybrid fleet. Recently, Delmarva unveiled a 43-foot hybrid bucket truck that will produce significantly less carbon emissions than the traditional diesel-fueled utility bucket truck. The hybrid bucket truck joins 40 other alternative-fuel vehicles which Delmarva Power has purchased since it began its fleet conversion in 2007. Company Cafeterias Go Green – Switched from Styrofoam to biodegradable paper products at company cafeterias where the company also sells biodegradable corn plastic mugs. Nage has discoverd that we can significantly cut our cabon footprint by purchasing locally grown food. Instead of buying food that has been shipped across the country, or in some cases across the globe, we buy locally whenever we can. We developed a Farm-to-Table program that runs six months of the year. This program is an effort educate our guests on the importance of buying local, organic and sustainable foods. During the months that we are able purchase local produce, meats and seafood, we make an effort to buy only local goods. We have paired with over twenty local farmers to supply our needs. Every Thursday night we have a dinner to spotlight one of our local farmers. The farmer is in the restaurant to meet guests and explain how their method of farming can help improve the environment. In addition to the Tursday night dinners, we are very active with both the Rehoboth and Lewes Farmers Markets. Our goal is to reduce our footprint by using pesticide free foods, using foods that have not been shipped long distances and using foods with reduced packaging or no packaging. We are also participating in a full stream recycling program which recycles everything except food scraps. We have installed a special hot water heater that heats the water "on demand" which has significantly lowered our gas consumption. Chamber Green Force Meetings & Events
The April 19, 2011 Shredding Day was a great success! Due to the success, a second shredding day has been scheduled for May 24th! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WSFS, Bethany Blues and the Chamber's Green Force will host a "2nd Shredding Event." Attendees will be able to gain information on green initiatives and reduce their carbon footrpint with FREE shredding fun! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach community is invited to bring their used paper to Bethany Blues in Lewes for shredding. The event will take place rain or shine. There is no charge, but donations for the benefit of the Destination Station profect are welcome. The event will be held at Bethany Blues Restaurant in Lewes, DE from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon.

Chamber Green Force Goals & Accomplishments
April 22, 2010. Earth Day Shredding Event a Huge Success! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Michael Loftus of CPC Financial Planning and the Chamber’s Green Force hosted a “Shredding Event” on Earth Day. The inaugural event was held at Bethany Blues Restaurant in Lewes. The turnout was great! Approximately 350 people brought over 13,000 pounds of paper to shred. Data Guard, the company who shredded the paper, filled the truck in 2 hours...a company first! Chamber Green Force Members were set up to greet participants and to pass out literature.
July 2008. Green Force Meeting. During a Chamber Green Force meeting, Senator Carper turned the tables on the Force that day . . . asking the members what they were doing to support alternative energy and what ways they had found to help out good old mother earth. Since that time, the Force has grown to over 100 members who have met to identify their priorities, set goals and next steps.
July 2009. Recycling Day in Dewey Beach. A one day recycle campaign was held on July 1st from 1:00-3:00 PM in Dewey Beach at Crabber’s Cove Parking Lot.
April 2009 & August 2010. Renewable Energy Fair. Chamber Green Force is represented at the Renewable Energy Trade Shows. A booth is manned and information is provided.
Green Force Attention. The Force has drawn the attention of the Air Quality Partnership, which includes the Delaware Energy Office, Dept. of National Resources, additional State agencies, as well as Azure Dynamics, EcoBoost Technology, Bayshore Ford and others. Partnership meetings are being scheduled to “learn more.”
Long term recycling commitment. Meetings continue to be held with Michele and Tom Grogan of First State Disposal to create a commercialrecycling program.

Renewable Energy Purchases – Delmarva Power reached an agreement on a long-term power purchase contract under which the company would buy up to 200 megawatts of power from an offshore wind farm to be developed by Babcock & Brown’s subsidiary, Bluewater Wind Delaware, LLC. The purchase includes energy, capacity and renewable energy credits. This contract will be added to a portfolio consisting of up to an additional 170 megawatts of existing, land-based, wind power contracts recently signed by Delmarva Power, all of which are subject to state approval. Green Fleet – In order to reduce its carbon footprint, Delmarva Power is investing in a hybrid fleet. Recently, Delmarva unveiled a 43-foot hybrid bucket truck that will produce significantly less carbon emissions than the traditional diesel-fueled utility bucket truck. The hybrid bucket truck joins 40 other alternative-fuel vehicles which Delmarva Power has purchased since it began its fleet conversion in 2007. Nage has discoverd that we can significantly cut our cabon footprint by purchasing locally grown food. Instead of buying food that has been shipped across the country, or in some cases across the globe, we buy locally whenever we can. We developed a Farm-to-Table program that runs six months of the year. This program is an effort educate our guests on the importance of buying local, organic and sustainable foods. During the months that we are able purchase local produce, meats and seafood, we make an effort to buy only local goods. We have paired with over twenty local farmers to supply our needs. Every Thursday night we have a dinner to spotlight one of our local farmers. The farmer is in the restaurant to meet guests and explain how their method of farming can help improve the environment. In addition to the Tursday night dinners, we are very active with both the Rehoboth and Lewes Farmers Markets. Our goal is to reduce our footprint by using pesticide free foods, using foods that have not been shipped long distances and using foods with reduced packaging or no packaging. We are also participating in a full stream recycling program which recycles everything except food scraps. We have installed a special hot water heater that heats the water "on demand" which has significantly lowered our gas consumption. Chamber Green Force Meetings & Events
The April 19, 2011 Shredding Day was a great success! Due to the success, a second shredding day has been scheduled for May 24th! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WSFS, Bethany Blues and the Chamber's Green Force will host a "2nd Shredding Event." Attendees will be able to gain information on green initiatives and reduce their carbon footrpint with FREE shredding fun! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach community is invited to bring their used paper to Bethany Blues in Lewes for shredding. The event will take place rain or shine. There is no charge, but donations for the benefit of the Destination Station profect are welcome. The event will be held at Bethany Blues Restaurant in Lewes, DE from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon.

Chamber Green Force Goals & Accomplishments
April 22, 2010. Earth Day Shredding Event a Huge Success! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Michael Loftus of CPC Financial Planning and the Chamber’s Green Force hosted a “Shredding Event” on Earth Day. The inaugural event was held at Bethany Blues Restaurant in Lewes. The turnout was great! Approximately 350 people brought over 13,000 pounds of paper to shred. Data Guard, the company who shredded the paper, filled the truck in 2 hours...a company first! Chamber Green Force Members were set up to greet participants and to pass out literature.
July 2008. Green Force Meeting. During a Chamber Green Force meeting, Senator Carper turned the tables on the Force that day . . . asking the members what they were doing to support alternative energy and what ways they had found to help out good old mother earth. Since that time, the Force has grown to over 100 members who have met to identify their priorities, set goals and next steps.
July 2009. Recycling Day in Dewey Beach. A one day recycle campaign was held on July 1st from 1:00-3:00 PM in Dewey Beach at Crabber’s Cove Parking Lot.
April 2009 & August 2010. Renewable Energy Fair. Chamber Green Force is represented at the Renewable Energy Trade Shows. A booth is manned and information is provided.
Green Force Attention. The Force has drawn the attention of the Air Quality Partnership, which includes the Delaware Energy Office, Dept. of National Resources, additional State agencies, as well as Azure Dynamics, EcoBoost Technology, Bayshore Ford and others. Partnership meetings are being scheduled to “learn more.”
Long term recycling commitment. Meetings continue to be held with Michele and Tom Grogan of First State Disposal to create a commercialrecycling program.

Renewable Energy Purchases – Delmarva Power reached an agreement on a long-term power purchase contract under which the company would buy up to 200 megawatts of power from an offshore wind farm to be developed by Babcock & Brown’s subsidiary, Bluewater Wind Delaware, LLC. The purchase includes energy, capacity and renewable energy credits. This contract will be added to a portfolio consisting of up to an additional 170 megawatts of existing, land-based, wind power contracts recently signed by Delmarva Power, all of which are subject to state approval. Green Fleet – In order to reduce its carbon footprint, Delmarva Power is investing in a hybrid fleet. Recently, Delmarva unveiled a 43-foot hybrid bucket truck that will produce significantly less carbon emissions than the traditional diesel-fueled utility bucket truck. The hybrid bucket truck joins 40 other alternative-fuel vehicles which Delmarva Power has purchased since it began its fleet conversion in 2007. Nage Restaurant
Nage has discoverd that we can significantly cut our cabon footprint by purchasing locally grown food. Instead of buying food that has been shipped across the country, or in some cases across the globe, we buy locally whenever we can. We developed a Farm-to-Table program that runs six months of the year. This program is an effort educate our guests on the importance of buying local, organic and sustainable foods. During the months that we are able purchase local produce, meats and seafood, we make an effort to buy only local goods. We have paired with over twenty local farmers to supply our needs. Every Thursday night we have a dinner to spotlight one of our local farmers. The farmer is in the restaurant to meet guests and explain how their method of farming can help improve the environment. In addition to the Tursday night dinners, we are very active with both the Rehoboth and Lewes Farmers Markets. Our goal is to reduce our footprint by using pesticide free foods, using foods that have not been shipped long distances and using foods with reduced packaging or no packaging. We are also participating in a full stream recycling program which recycles everything except food scraps. We have installed a special hot water heater that heats the water "on demand" which has significantly lowered our gas consumption. We have installed a special film on the windows that significantly lowers the amount of heat that comes through in the summer and we installed skylights that allow light but not heat to enter during the day. www.nage.bz • 302-226-2037
