Sea Change: Oil Paintings by Stephen Estrada

From May 14, 2024 10:00 am until May 14, 2024 4:00 pm

In the Tubbs Gallery, Stephen Estrada paints the various moods of the ocean in “Sea Change.” Our connection to the sea goes back beyond time; its moods and rhythms affect our daily lives. For Stephen, the ocean has always been a source of solace, mystery and adventure. He has intimate knowledge of the ocean’s beauty and its awesome power. These oil paintings reflect a lifetime of experiences in and near the sea; sometimes tumultuous, sometimes indescribably tranquil. He hopes they convey his sense of awe in the presence of this essential element.  The three shows in the Corkran, Tubbs, and Ventures galleries are on display from May 10 to June 9.

Our connection to the sea goes back beyond time. Its moods and rhythms affect our daily lives. For me the ocean has always been a source of solace, mystery and adventure. For many years I have volunteered rebuilding in communities affected by hurricanes that have come ashore in Florida, New Orleans and Puerto Rico. I have intimate knowledge of the ocean’s beauty and its awesome power.

These paintings reflect a lifetime of experiences in and near the sea; sometimes tumultuous, sometimes indescribably tranquil. I hope they convey my sense of awe in the presence of this essential element.

This exhibition is free and open to everyone during the regular gallery hours of Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, noon to 4 pm.
