Statement regarding the City of Rehoboth Beach's Removal of the Nativity Scene

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce has received high numbers of negative comments regarding the recent Rehoboth Beach City decision to remove the Nativity Scene from the Rehoboth bandstand area. We want everyone to know that the Chamber is a separate non-profit membership organization and not a department or division of the City Government. Neither the Chamber nor the business community had any part in the City’s decision. Unfortunately, both the Chamber and the business community have been unfairly connected and criticized bearing the brunt of the complaints. On December 12, 2018 the Chamber offered St. Edmonds the use of the land at the Chamber’s Administrative Office (306 Rehoboth Avenue) for the placement of the Nativity Scene. We are hopeful that St. Edmonds will accept the offer.
