For ten years, four award winning Delaware poets, descended on Wendy Ingersoll Perry’s family farm not too far from Quaker Neck Landing near Chestertown, Maryland. The poets collectively have had seven books published, and received five Delaware for the Arts grants, five Pushcart nominations, two “Best of the Net” nominations, and one new best poet award.

On October 10, at 7 pm the Rehoboth Beach Museum will host Linda Blaskey, Gail Braune Comorat, Wendy Elizabeth Ingersoll and Jane C. Miller for a reading of their poems and a discussion of how their friendship over the years has helped them in their writing.

During the summer weeks, the poets spend most of their day writing by the Chester River and use their evenings to read some of their day’s labor. It is one of the highlights of the year for these four friends who have formed a unique bond through the power of words. Poetry tends to be a solitary pursuit and this gathering allows for that but also brings an element of fellowship and support. Last year, the four came up with the idea to collect the product of the past decade into a book to honor the sense of place they have received from the Ingersoll family farm. The book is entitled “Walking the Sunken Boards”.

Space may be limited so reservations are required. Please call (302) 227-7310 to insure your space. The program is free for members. A $5 donation is suggested for non-members. The Museum is located at 511 Rehoboth Avenue. There is free parking and the museum is handicap accessible.
