The Rehoboth Beach Museum’s summer exhibit, Floating Through History: the Lewes Rehoboth Canal, documents the history of the canal that runs behind the Museum. On August 15, at 7 pm, Paula Roberts narrates a slide presentation of her research on the history of the canal, and the industry and commerce that once thrived on the banks of the canal in Rehoboth. The presentation will include excerpts from various oral histories that included memories of residents through the years. You will hear stories about crabbing and fishing as well as just general mischief from those who grew up during this busy commercial time on the canal. Please come prepared to share your memories and stories as well.
Pat Coluzzi will finish our program with an overview of plans for Grove Park Dock. A revitalization of the canal with Rehoboth Beach access points so that boat passengers may safely access both Lewes and Rehoboth Beach downtown areas.
The doors will open at 6:30, so you may view pictures and artifacts of the exhibit before the program.
Space may be limited so reservations are required. Please call (302) 227-7310 to insure your space. The program is free for members. A $5 donation is suggested for non-members. The Museum is located at 511 Rehoboth Avenue. There is free parking and the museum is handicap accessible.
