In a ddition\, the first of a series of Evening Strolls along the Boardwalk wil l begin on Thursday\, May 30 at 5:30 pm. The morning Walking Tours will b e held every other Thursday morning throughout the summer\, except in July when there will be only one tour on July 18\, and then picking up again o n Thursday August 8. The tour is a 2-hour gentle stroll around downtown. I t costs $10.00 payable on the day of the tour to the tour guide. Look for the pink umbrella held by tour guide Jean Brolund or the black umbrella he ld by tour guide Gerry Beaulieu. Reservations are required and may be obta ined by calling the Rehoboth Beach Museum at (302) 227-7310. You may leave your name and telephone number on the answering machine if no one is avai lable to take your call. The popular evening stroll\, began last year\, w ill be on May 30 at 5:30 pm. An evening stroll along the Boardwalk was a t radition for many years. After a long day of surf and sand\, families woul d often take a walk on the boardwalk after dinner\, sometimes stopping for ice cream for dessert. Recreate that tradition with the tour leaders. T he morning Walking Tours provide general information about the history of Rehoboth Beach while touching on several of the storms that have shaped th e coastline and the beachfront in town. The tour guide will lead walkers f rom the bandstand along Rehoboth Avenue\, pointing out landmarks and provi ding photos of historical sites and events. Topics covered are the Native people of the area\, the Methodist Camp Meetings\, Hotels\, Railroad Servi ce\, and Horn’s Pavilion. Other topics on the tour may include shipwreck s\, naming ships such as the Falmouth\, the Merrimac\, the Severn\, and th e SS Thomas Tracy\, the railroad\, the Belhaven Hotel\, restaurants such a s the Robert Lee and Snyder’s\, and of course\, Funland. Tour goers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water or fill u p a water bottle at the historic Women’s Christian Temperance Union Founta in on the boardwalk\, one of the landmarks mentioned on the tour.
