RBFS Seeks Art Submissions

Rehoboth Beach Film Society Seeks Art Submissions for 2016 Film Festival The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is seeking original art submissions to be adapted for the 2016 Rehoboth Beach Independent FilView Morem Festival’s artwork. The selected submission will become the theme for designing the Film Festival’s poster, program, t-shirt, and other promotional materials. Submissions must be new, original, and created with film and coastal Delaware in mind. The selected artist will receive tremendous visibility by having his/her work featured in numerous marketing applications. Several thousand Festival programs will be printed with the chosen artwork on the cover and an interior page devoted to a biography and photo of the selected artist. The program will also be posted on the Film Society’s website. In addition, numerous copies of the Festival poster, featuring the artwork, will be displayed in businesses throughout Sussex County. The artwork will also be posted on the Film Society’s website with a link to the selected artist’s website. The selected artwork will be auctioned at the Festival in November 2016 with proceeds to benefit the Rehoboth Beach Film Society. Artwork from Faith Lord, Batenga Obuseh, Nina Stamus, Damon Pla, Laura Ambler, Claudia Ratner, and Steve Drum was selected for previous Festivals. Over 100 teams are expected to express their artistic flair. Past creations have included Swamp Animals, Mermaids, Pyramids, Crabs, Dolphins, Sharks and of course traditional sandcastles. Beachgoers who would rather watch than work are welcome to view the incredible creations free of charge. RBDBCC Business Members are encouraged to compete in the business category, represent your company in the sand!  Entries will be judged on “Structural Engineering,” “Use of Materials,” “Imagination,”, “Overall Aesthetic Appeal”, as well as “Representation of Business.”  The winning business will receive a trophy and bragging rights for the entire year! JUDGING & ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS Begins at 3:00 PM; judges are volunteers for the RBDBCC.  Winners will be announced at approximately 5:00 PM. PRIZES Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 Judge’s Favorites in both the adult and 7-14 child divisions. 1 Judge’s Favorite will be awarded in the Business category. Special awards given to all participants in the 6 & under child’s division. People’s Choice Awards – Two People’s Chioce Awards will be given during this year’s contest. The general public can vote on their favorite ADULT and CHILD division creation, by completing an event evaluation. All regular contest rules apply. RULES Participants will be divided into four divisions: Business, Adult (15 and older), Child 7-14, and Child 6 and under. There is no limit to the number of participants per team.  Participants may not be on multiple teams. Piles of sand must be formed by manpower only.  Mechanized assistance is not allowed. To be judged, creations must be built within placed “Feather” flag boundaries (pictured to right). The sand sculptures must contain only objects natural to the beach (shells, stones, seaweed, etc.) Participants must stay away from the dunes and dune grass. Sculptures may not be dampened or sprayed with any solutions other than water.  In other words:  NO STICKY STUFF! Sculptures must be finished by 3:00 PM.   WEATHER DEPENDENT The event is WEATHER DEPENDENT.  In the event of bad weather, set up and registration may be delayed up until 10:30 AM.  If bad weather continues, the event will be postponed until the following year.  If bad weather occurs during the contest, participants may continue at will or at the discretion of lifeguards.  Judging may be cancelled at anytime if warranted by current weather conditions.View Less
