Garden Shack Farmers Market

Garden Shack Farm will be hosting a farmers market every Thursday in April through November, 2 pm - 6 pm. Local vendors will be offering fresh produce, eggs, dairy products, flowers, herbs, juices, hoView Moreney, coffee, meats, and locally created baked goods, craft items, and wood projects. In addition, Sussex County Mobile Library will be on site every third Thursday beginning April 7 with story time, craft time, and library book checkouts. Each week shoppers can relax and enjoy dinner at the market while picking up items for their weekend, checking out the market's featured guest, and watching the chickens peck around happily. Sussex County Habitat for Humantiy Women Build 2016

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity volunteers will join 17,000 volunteers nationally for the 2016 Women Build Week scheduled for April 30 through May 8, the week leading up to Mother’s Day. Zion AME Church in Ellendale, and Carolyn Fitz of Carolyn Fitz Real Estate in Bethany Beach, will work on homes designated for families headed by single mothers. The Rehoboth Beach Public Library will be holding a workshop to teach common sense self-defense techniques on Wednesday, May 4 at 1:30 pm lead by Gary Rosenblum. This workshop is designed for individuView Moreals that are interested in learning how to defend themselves but don’t have the time to fully commit to a training regimen. These techniques are easy to learn and easy to remember. This class is geared to teach several self-defense techniques that can be used in an emergency situation and can be used by just about anyone. GET READY TO RECYCLE: SHREDDING DAY SCHEDULED FOR MAY 6TH! The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WSFS and the Chamber’s Green Force will host a “Shredding EventView More” on Friday, May 6, 2016. The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach community is invited to bring their used paper to Bethany Blues in Lewes (18385 Coastal Highway) between 10 AM and 2 PM for shredding. Bethany Blues will provide light refreshments for participants. Attendees will be able to gain information on green initiatives and reduce their carbon footprint with FREE shredding fun! The event will take place rain or shine. There is no charge, but donations for the benefit of the Chamber Event Fund are welcome. Not sure what you can shred? The possibilities are endless – any papers based printed material, X-Rays, CD’s, floppy disks, cassette/audio tapes, microfilm, and more! Between October 2014 through September 2015, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth served 104,969 nutritious meals to 326 homebound citizens in Eastern Sussex County. Volunteers gave 9,064 hours of their time and drove 87,000 miles to make meal deliveries. There were 465 outreach visits made by MOW Lewes/Rehoboth staff, resulting in 30 people receiving emergency assistance (over and above food delivery) and 128 people being counseled by a registered dietition.
