RBFS Another Take series presents "The David Dance" and "Tru Love"

From February 14, 2015 10:00 am until February 15, 2015 12:00 pm

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and CAMP Rehoboth will co-present “The David Dance” and “Tru Love” as part of its annual Another Take series during the Presidents Day weekend, February 14 – 15. Another Take is a quarterly gay and lesbian themed film series and is held in the upstairs screening room at Movies at Midway.

The series begins on Saturday, February 14, at 3:00 pm, with a screening of “The David Dance.” Away from the microphone, David is soft spoken, shy and unsure of himself. However, as his on-air alias, "Danger Dave," the host of the local radio show, “Gay Talk,” - he’s poised, witty, and every listener’s best friend. His sister, Kate, is a thrice divorced banker with a yen for classical music and cats. Though successful, the siblings suffer from a secret sense of inadequacy. Kate decides to adopt an orphan in Brazil and asks David to be a father figure. David struggles with his self- doubt while gawkily romancing his coworker. Past and present intertwine in this bittersweet tale of a man learning to love and accept himself. Says Scott Douglas of “Edge”, "Once I reached the end of the movie I was overwhelmed with all different kinds of emotions and plenty of tears. This is truly one of those movies that gets to the heart and soul of a person. If you have ever fel t love o f any kind, this movie is for you... ‘The David Dance’ is the surprise of the LGBT circuit." [2014, US, Runtime: 108 min, No Rating)

The series continues on Sunday, February 15th at 3:00 pm with “Tru Love,” a haunting and evocative story about the intersecting lives of three women. Tru, 37, is a serial dating lesbian who cannot commit to a relationship for long – that is until she meets Alice. Alice, 60, is a recent widow who decides at the last minute to visit her daughter, Suzanne. When Suzanne is too busy to spend time with her, Tru steps in to entertain and the two form an unlikely friendship. As sparks start to fly, Suzanne becomes alarmed and tries to sabotage the budding romance. Winner of the award for Best International Feature at FilmOut San Diego and the Jury Prize at the KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, Taila C. of “” says, “This emotional film about life and love in different forms is simple but unfailingly well meaning, and highly enjoyable like so many current great Canadian works.”[2013, Canada, Runtime: 87 min, Rated R]
