Museum Director

Position: Full Time, Year Round Director of History Museum

Salary Range: $52,000 to $60,000 annually

Organization: Rehoboth Beach Historical Society

Location: Rehoboth Beach, DE

Reporting to: Board President

About Us: Rehoboth Beach Museum preserves and celebrates Rehoboth Beach 's 150-year history on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, engaging visitors with permanent and rotating exhibits and educational programs. Located in a former icehouse perched on the canal bank at the entrance to the city, our museum is a Rehoboth community cornerstone, fostering an appreciation for local heritage. Position Overview: Seeking an experienced Museum Director with a passion for history, education, and community engagement. Lead our team, curate engaging exhibitions, and shape the museum's strategic vision.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and execute a strategic plan aligned with our mission, ensuring community impact.
2. Lead and mentor a collaborative team of part-time employees and volunteers
3. Curate captivating exhibitions that highlight the region's historical significance.
4. Collaborate with historians and partners to create compelling narratives.
5. Manage budgets, fundraising, and financial sustainability.
6. Implement educational programs to engage diverse audiences.
7. Cultivate relationships with donors and sponsors.
8. Preserve, maintain, and enhance our collection of over 5,000 objects, photographs, and archival materials.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in Museum Studies, History, or related field.
2. Minimum 3 years in museum leadership, curatorial, or historical interpretation roles.
3. Strong knowledge of local history and exhibition development.
4. Success in fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing.
5. Excellent communication skills for engaging diverse audiences.
6. Proficiency in Past Perfect museum software and collections management.
7. Strategic thinker with a collaborative and innovative approach.
8. Budget management experience.
9. Flexibility for evening/weekend events.
