Chamber Green Force Goals & Accomplishments

Last July, just 9 months ago, the Chamber Green Force met for the first time, and Senator Carper turned the tables on the Force that day . . . asking the members what they were doing to support alternative energy and what ways they had found to help out good old mother earth. Since that time, the Force has grown to over 100 members who have met to identify their priorities, set goals and next steps.

The status and the next steps of the Green Force are:

  • The Force has drawn the attention of the Air Quality Partnership, which includes the Delaware Energy Office, Dept. of National Resources, additional State agencies, as well as Azure Dynamics, EcoBoost Technology, Bayshore Ford and others. Partnership meetings are being scheduled to “learn more.”
  • Long term recycling commitment. Meetings continue to be held with Michele and Tom Grogan of First State Disposal to create a commercialrecycling program.
  • A one day recycle campaign is scheduled for July 1st from 1:00-3:00 PM in Dewey Beach at Crabber’s Cove Parking Lot.
  • Partnership with Delaware Renewable Energy Trade Show to be held on April 18th at the Baycenter. The Chamber Green Force will man a booth and provide information.
  • WMDT Channel 47 has offered specially created and priced Green Force commercials. Members who are a match should contact Jamie at 410-742-4747 x321.

Results of the Green Force Identifying their top Five Priorities:

  1. Solar
  2. Recycling Program
  3. Geo-Thermal
  4. Wind/Energy and Other Energy Saving Products
  5. Green Products

Next Steps of the Chamber Green Force:

  1. Place the survey on Chamber’s Website for more input;
  2. Secure approval & sponsors for strategically placed recycle bins bearing the Green Force/Chamber Logo and Sponsor Logos;
  3. Promote the July 1st Dewey Beach Recycle Day;
  4. Secure Volunteers for specific tasks needed by the Force;
  5. Set next Green Force meeting for June.

The Chamber is identifying members who cater to greening by recycling, the sale/use of environmentally sensitive products and procedures, or other earth-friendly service in any way. Check out the list of Green Force Members to date:
